With the engine idling, turn the TPS all the way counterclockwise. Then slowly turn it clockwise until the idle speed drops. Stop. Turn it about 1/2 degree at a time counterclockwise until the idle picks back up. Stop. Turn it back 1//2 degree.

Apr 13, 2011 · W/key on put meter ground on black wire and meter positive on dark blue wire (pin C), the level should go from around 0.4 (closed TPS) to 4.5 volts (wide open TPS) as you actuate the throttle. If not you could have bad TPS or one of the wires from TPS to PCM is open. Update with meter results and we can help isolate the actual failure..

I haven't adjusted my cable to increase the tension in a long time. All the other older versions of KManager I was running always read 0%.. The TPS output signal to the computer is a voltage that ranges from approx. 1 volt at idle (throttle plate as closed as it can be) to approx. 5 volts at WOT. (equal to the reference voltage) 1 is 20% of 5, so for whatever reason the throttle position is expressed by the scan tool as a percentage of the signal voltage versus the 5 volt reference. Web. Web. Web. Web. Web. Web. What percentage should TPS be at idle? At idle is should be zero or a couple of degrees. Press down on the gas pedal very S-L-O-W-L-Y until the throttle is all the way open. You should see the percentage of throttle opening gradually increase to 100 percent at wide open throttle.

Idle speed on fuel injected models is controlled by the computer and is not adjustable. You need to have a small amount of free play in the throttle cable. Normal throttle position. Nov 19, 2022 · I have seen 4 things cause this. The first is a low engine oil level. When it is low, air can be sucked up in the oil sump and cause erratic pressure. Second it a faulty Injection Actuation Pressure sensor. And lastly is a leaking injector. Most often I find a faulty IAP sensor or HEUI pump. Jul 16, 2011 · Today I took some readings on the throttle position percentage on my OBD2 scanner. This is on a 2003 Wrangler Rubicon 4.0L manual. At idle position, the TPS signal is indicating 12.5% open. At WOT position, my TPS signal is reading 74.5%. Thats right, the closed idle is sending a 12.5% open, and at WOT it is sending a 3/4 open reading!!.
